BMM International (BMM) announced today that the second in the series of BMM Tribal iGaming Workshops ‘Finding Your Path’, held at the Menominee Casino Resort in Wisconsin on October 17 and 18, was a big success.
The workshop, aimed at Tribal regulators and operators, was presented over two days with speakers from BMM as well as experts from the field of iGaming. The presentations covered a wide variety of topics including the legal and licensing requirements in iGaming, a survey of regulatory structures, marketing and several sessions focusing on the actual operations of internet based gaming.
Participant Thomas Jeffords, Executive Director of the Gaming Commission for the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, said of the workshop “It was great information, really well presented. This is such a great way to enlighten everyone as to what is in the mix for iGaming.” Thomas went on to say “The workshop really broadened my outlook on the whole iGaming arena and now I can get on to writing appropriate minimal internal controls.”
Richard Williamson, BMM’s SVP Regulatory – Americas and Chairman for the workshops, commented “Information is key to making educated decisions particularly in the iGaming world. BMM’s aim is to educate and familiarize participants with the information they need to analyze their own tribe’s iGaming opportunities. We want to enable our participants to make their own informed, practical decisions.”
Participant Brian D. Decorah, General Manager of the North Star Mohican Casino Resort described the workshop as “An excellent 101 in online gaming”. Brian went on to comment “Finding Your Path has been most helpful, over the past two days we have learned about current legislation, trends and costs associated with online gaming. I particularly like the fact that the seminars are not ‘sales pitchy’.”
The iGaming workshop was held over two days in the beautiful conference facility at Menominee Casino Resort, Keshena, Wisconsin. The event was opened by The Veterans of the Menominee Nation who posted the Colors along with the Invocation by Dennis Kenote, a Menominee Nation Veteran. Bruce Pecore, Menominee Tribal Legislator provided the welcome and the Menominee High School Drummers ‘The Young Chiefs’ accompanied the opening ceremony with drumming.
Vince Cook, Regulatory Director for Little Traverse B and of Odawa Indians, said of the two-day event, “The workshop gave excellent information that not only provided knowledge, but helped me to formulate ideas on how to proceed.”
Mike Dreitzer, COO – Americas, BMM, commented “Again, we are extremely pleased to see that BMM’s approach to education and providing information to industry participants has been so well received. We view education as our responsibility, given our prominent position as the leading gaming lab and technical consultancy group in the industry. Working with key stakeholders in this way is crucial to what we do. In addition, we find that these events are much more effective as a regional series, offering special attention every time to each of the key geographic areas in tribal gaming across the United States and reducing travel costs for those attending.”
Look out for further events in the coming months.
